Finally getting around to starting to post some of my work for Fortnite. Recently, I had the opportunity to create the automated Spy Turrets that we introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 2. This was part of a larger set of assets that introduced new gameplay elements for the Season. The gun itself retracts into the base, and includes a base extender to ensure that the weapon can fire over railings and small walls as needed.
This is among the first wave of Fortnite assets I've worked on here at the studio using exclusively Blender, which I have jumped to using full time. It made design iteration go vastly quicker, giving us more flexibility and control over the final look.
A lot of work went into the systems at large; big thanks to everyone at Epic who made the magic happen under the hood! Bill Kladis created the associated FX, and the entire kit was Art Directed by Matt Hancy, and Andy Carroll.
